Center for Bloodless Medicine and Surgery: hormone replacement therapy and Durable Power of Attorney

Time: 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Place: Forest Park Hospital, Centennial Pavilion

Dr. Haifaa Younis will present information on whether hormone replacement should be taken. Also, Durable Power of Attorney will be discussed for those who do not wish to have a blood transfusion.*

* Bloodless means that medical and/or surgical treatment is provided without the use of banked (stored) allogenic blood or primary blood components. Blood loss often occurs during surgery, potentially resulting in the need for a blood transfusion. A bloodless program endeavors to minimize blood loss by utilizing special blood conservation methods.

GRIEF AND LOSS SUPPORT group

Time: 10-11 a.m.

Place: Forest Park Hospital, Sisters' Living Room

A weekly support group for persons experiencing significant life losses, such as the death of a family member. Call 314-768-3003.

Look Good, Feel Better

Designed to help women undergoing cancer treatments learn makeup techniques; how to use wigs, turbans and scarves to cope with the appearance-related side effects of treatment; and to gain a sense of self confidence and control over their lives. Complimentary cosmetics, skin care products and wigs are donated by the cosmetic industry. Co-sponsored by the American Cancer Society. Call 314-768-3046 for more information.
