A Womens Health Center created at Forest Park Hospital in late 2000 is working to empower women to become more active in addressing their health needs.
The Womens Health Center was set up in a newly renovated space on the seventh floor of the hospital. It expanded on the health services that were previously offered in the OB Clinic on the first floor, which closed when workers began renovating and expanding the Emergency Department.
The goal of the Womens Health Center is to enhance the physical as well as the psychological and emotional well being of women it serves through education and specialized clinical services, said Dorinda Harmon, RN, Center director. The exam rooms are set up with larged cushion recliners - so even the physical setting is designed for the comfort of the patient.
The Centers services include diabetic education, fetal monitoring, home health/case management assistance, information referral, medical insurance assistance education, medication assistance program, obstetrics and gynecology, planned parenting education and social service assistance.
The acting medical director of the Womens Health Center is Robert Blaskiewicz, MD. The Center is accepting new patients. For more information, call 768-3056.
Meanwhile, many health services not specifically related to women are offered in the MediCenter on the first floor of Forest Park Hospital. These include internal medicine, psychiatry, dermatology, oncology, endocrinology, bariatrics and surgery.
